Multilingual and 3D Graphical user interface makes the virtual model as real as possible

  • Ημερομηνία: 2/12/2014

In today's design methods one of the most challenging phases is the creation of the computer model of the structure.ConSteel helps this task with a spectacular 3D graphical user interface making the virtual model as real as possible.

Multilingual user interface

The language of the user interface can be set from the following languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Turkish, Hungarian, Polish, Czech, Slovak, Slovenian, Rumanian, Bulgarian, and Serbian.

Graphical user interface
The wide easy-to-use CAD functionality and several convenient model manipulation tools allow the user to concentrate on the real importance of computer modeling. The user model, built by the engineer using whole structural members (haunched beams, tapered columns, tension braces, slabs etc.), is completely separated from the calculation model, which is an automatically generated sophisticated finite element model used by the structural analysis and design.
Section libraries and macro sections

Cross section can be loaded from comprehensive cross-section libraries or can be defined with the macro section editor. In the macro section editor the following section can be built up:

Steel: welded from plates, cold formed or hot rolled, and compound
Reinforced concrete: solid circle, ring shaped, rectangular, I and T shaped, and trapezoid
Composite: column (fully and partially encased I section in concrete, encased maltese cross section in concrete, fully encased I section in hollow and circular hollow section), and beam (composite beam with constant slab and with profiled steel sheeting)

Wide range of structural members
Several types of structural members can be used for modelling your structure such as beam, column, plate and wall with arbitrary shapes and holes, diaphragm, rigid body, point and line support etc. Created beams and columns can be strengthened by haunches or can be set as a tapered member. Local eccentricity can be set for beams, columns, point and line supports. In case of point and line support the eccentricity can be defined to the section geometry and if the section of the member is changed the position of the placed supports are automatically updated according to the new section size.

Various load types
Several load types are available such as point, line and surface load, temperature load for bar and surface, prescribed displacement, tension force etc. By the help of the load transfer surface surface load can be placed on line members also. Local eccentricity can be set for point and line load. The eccentricity can be defined to the section geometry and if the section of the member is changed the position of the placed loads are automatically updated according to the new section size.
Three types of global imperfection can be set for the model: notional load, initial sway, and application of calculated eigenshapes. If you use initial sway or application of eigenshapes ConSteel automatically modify the finite element model.

Automatic wind load generation according to EuroCode and Spanish SE-AE standard
Wind load can be automatically generated for 3D structures according to the EN 1991-1-4 or the Spanish SE-AE standard. Wind velocity can be given by the several integrated wind zone maps. If it is necessary internal pressure can be added automatically to the wind load.

Fire effect and fire protection according to EuroCode

Fire effect and fire protection can be set for steel members according to the EN 1991-1-2. There are three different fire curve: standard, external, and hydrocarbon. Various insulation material can be used for protection such as board fiber, board gypsum, spray mineral fiber, spray perlit etc. If you use fire effect and protection on steel members ConSteel automatically determine the new elastic modulus and the temperature of the member.

Automatic load combination generation
Load combination can be created automatically according to following standards:
